MyGPS
MyGPS for Palms webOS:
MyGPS utilizes the built in GPS functionality of the phone to provide the user with their current speed, heading, and altitude. It also allows the user to lookup the address of the current location, if available – and then view it on google maps. Below is an FAQ created to answer common questions.
Q. I cannot seem to get a reading, why not?
A. MyGPS requires the use of the phone’s built in GPS services, you need to make sure this is turned on.
Q. Sometimes the location given is off by quite a bit, why is that?
A. The GPS service that is used requires a strong signal to be accurate. The stronger the signal, the more accurate it will be.
If you are in an area with a weak signal your GPS locator will probably be less accurate.
Q. The GPS doesn’t seem to ever get a reading even after a few minutes of searching, what’s wrong?
A. The GPS system in your phone is most likely not receiving the GPS signal correctly. Restarting your phone or doing and uninstall/reinstall of the application should fix this issue.
Q. Sometimes the address has the wrong street name even though the map shows the correct location, why?
A. Quite often the same street has two or more names but only one of these are used by the street signs in your area.
Q. Why doesn’t the nearest location find the Gas Station/Restaurant/Park/Etc. that I’m looking for?
A. The nearby place finder only finds the 10 nearest places that you are looking for. If you know the name of the place you are looking for try typing the name into the ‘Other’ option.
